foundation, or powder, will give you a good ';base'; for your blush. you don't really need it though if you have nice skin AND you're not using a lot of blush. if you just dust on a tiny bit, it will look very natural.
It doesn't look stupid...just don't go overboard with it. If you already have beautiful skin why risk clogging your pores with unnecessary foundation?
